Each year at the July NYAPT Annual Conference, a number of awards are presented honoring the bus drivers, monitors, attendants, instructors, and mechanics in the field of New York State pupil transportation. Nominate your most respected pupil transport professional. Show someone that his or her hard work has been noticed!

PTSI Trainer of Distinction Award
PTSI established the Trainer of Distinction Award in 2013 to celebrate and recognize the attributes and accomplishments of Maria Palacios-Hardes -– a trainer who embodied dedication, commitment and a passion for the safety of school students and passengers in New York State and across the nation. Due May 30th
Heroism Award
Recognition of a New York state school bus driver or attendant for outstanding or heroic service during the course of his/her duties. Due June 15th
SBDI of the Year
Recognition of a New York State Master Instructor who has made contributions to enhance school bus safety in New York State. Due May 15th
MI of the Year
Recognition of a New York State Master Instructor who has made contributions to enhance school bus safety in New York State. Due May 15th
Safety Drill Contest
Highlighting safety drill taught by a NYS bus driver (and an attendant or monitor, if appropriate) to actual students. Drills may be entered in any of three categories: on the bus; classroom; assembly. Due June 15th
NYAPT/PTSI Technician of the Year
Sponsored by PTSI, the School Bus Technician of the Year Award was established to recognize a School Bus Technician who exemplifies the characteristics of excellence and quality and whose work results in a safer school bus and school bus travel for our children. We seek to recognize Mechanics/Technicians who have gone above and beyond the basics of their job to engage in their own professional development or to help others advance educationally. Due May 15th
