The Certified Examiner test, administered by the Department of Motor Vehicles, is an important step in seeking supervisor duties within passenger transportation.
Our NYS DMV-approved pre-requisite training course provides candidates with the tools and knowledge necessary prior to applying to take the DMV-administered 19-A Certified Examiner Test. This is a 4-day course.

Prerequisites to become a NYS DMV Certified Examiner
- Successful completion of a DMV-approved Certified Examiner training course – (this PTSI Course qualifies)
- Current Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with proper endorsements
- Licensed for at least 18 months in the class of bus you will be testing/evaluating drivers
- 18 months experience with a 19-A carrier in the past three years
- Two years experience in driver training and evaluation
- Company/school letter of endorsement supporting your application to become a CE
- Clean driving record (cannot have accumulated seven or more points within an 18 month period)
